With the club now back in Division 1 after 28 long seasons away, they took to the field in this shirt under the leadership of Alan Ball. The South Coast Fiat car dealership became the club's first ever shirt sponsor in the 1987 - 1988 season. As worn by Mick Quinn and Clive Whitehead. Barry Horne was also awarded the player of the year this season.
